BSC is once again, going back to the Alabama Legislature.

Last year, SB278 the bill that was designed to help Birmingham-Southern passed with overwhelming bipartisan support, setting the stage for a loan to give BSC time to raise the funds to ensure the College’s future.

Now, after months of deliberate delays and an ill-timed denial, we are headed back to Montgomery with a proposed amendment that will carry out the Legislature’s intent. And we need your help.

Last year’s success was due in large part to the tidal wave of calls, emails, postcards, letters, and personal visits those legislators received. BSC alumni, parents, and students made their voices heard, and it made a huge difference.

So, we are coming back to you once again to contact Alabama state senators and state representatives this week and ask them to vote yes for Birmingham-Southern College.

Here are some key messages:

In 2023, the Legislature decided that helping BSC was the right thing to do for Alabama.
But the state treasurer decided otherwise.
Alabama can't afford to lose Birmingham-Southern for many reasons:
- The many contributions of its alumni to every corner of the state
- The nearly $100 million in annual economic impact on the state
- And what losing it would say about how much Alabama values education.
Please vote yes in support of the amendment that will save Birmingham-Southern.
